PLSS Tradition

For more than 50 years, the Pewaukee Lake Sailing School has offered sailing instruction to youth of all ages. Since its inception, Pewaukee Lake Sailing School has been committed to the support of sailing in the local community. the tradition of sailing on Pewaukee Lake has been carried on through generations of families. Additionally, the PLSS has introduced numerous new sailors and their families to the sport.

The vision of the PLSS is to build a strong sailing community through beginning "learn to sail" programs which support and feed "learn to race" programs to foster the growth of competitive sailing. The keys to success of both programs are great coaches, excellent equipment, and your generous support.

PLSS Accomplishments

The Pewaukee Lake Sailing School has accomplished the following activities as a result of fundraising efforts:

ª Continued the commitment to our youth and high school racing
         programs by bringing in high-profile specialized coaches from around
         the country.

ª Continued our commitment to X Boat and OPTI sailors by targeting
         specific instructors with the greatest experience and accomplishments
         in these fleets to bring the best we can to these young sailors.

ª Continued to build the Kinder programs to start kids out with the best
         on water experience with a huge emphasis on FUN activities.

ª A schedule that provides a multitude of choices for boats to rent
        and time slots for instruction and racing. 420's, Lasers, and
        OPTI's can all be rented for class time or for the entire year.

PLSS Goals

Annual Giving Campaign will afford the sailing school to do the following:

ª Expand youth programs in 420 and Laser for the 2010 season.

ª Continue to invest in US Sailing certification for all instructors.

ª Upgrade equipment to be able to send instructors to regattas in a safe
         reliable manner.

ª Implement a renewed emphasis on Adult Learn to Sail instruction and
         outreach promotion into our community.

ª Execute plans with PYC to further the close relationship we enjoy and
         promote the long range planning and vision for sailing instruction in
         our community.

PLSS Annual Giving Campaign Mission

An Annual fund raising campaign to support the Pewaukee Lake Sailing School in its efforts to:

ª Support the development of creative programs to promote the growth of
         youth sailing.

ª Advance the core curriculum for instructors and sailors.

ª Fund expanded coaching presence at youth events.

ª Improve and expand PLSS facilities and equipment.

In its fourth year, this campaign has been instrumental in driving the improvements to PLSS offerings and has helped to ensure the financial strength and long term success of the school.
