Do you predominantly coach optis?
Yes.
What Opti team or program do you currently coach for outside of the NT/DT?
FAST, Fort Adams Sailing Team (Newport, RI).
What other classes do you or have you coached?
Laser/Radial/4.7, C420, High School and College Programs.
Are you a full time coach?
Did that for 10 years, now just weekends and select events.
What type of sailing do you do when you are not coaching?
I like to cruise. Race locally occassionally.
Who where some of the coaches that you learned from growing up sailing and as you got into coaching?
Never really had a coach growing up other than my father. Coaches that inspired me during early years of the profession - Eric Bardes, Kenneth Andreasen, Peter Katcha, Ken Hardy to name a few.
What are a couple of the most important things aspects of sailing and coaching you learned from them?
Patience, consistency and professionalism.
How long have you been coaching optis? Working with the National and Development Teams?
Coaching Opti's since 1989. Working with the USNT/DT since it's inception in 1995.
What is you favorite place to sail(watch sailing)?
Lake Garda, Italy and Ft. Lauderdale, FL (Boomerang and ocean courses).
